This Object introduces students to a variety of settings for the celebration of the Eucharist and an understanding of what constitutes an appropriate place of worship.

People and Ministries

This Object looks at the people involved in the celebration of the Sunday Eucharist. It provides, in an informative manner, first-person accounts of the different roles. The content is most suitable for primary school students.

Liturgical Ministries

This Object looks at the offices performed by the ordained ministries and the People of God in liturgical celebrations. The description of the offices and the roles are explained in detail. The content is most suitable for secondary school students.

Sights & Sounds

This Object portrays what would commonly be seen and heard when attending the Eucharist on Sunday. The content is most suitable for primary school students. The multimedia element presents the seven ‘sights and sounds’ developed in the ‘Supporting Content’; scrolling over the image produces the audio related to it.

This Object depicts the different furnishings and element to be found on a sanctuary; each item is explained.

Liturgical Colours and Seasons

This Object teaches students about the liturgical calendar; its seasons and the colours and symbols that represent them. The colours are dealt with in detail. The multimedia element is a graphic depiction of these components.

Gestures and Actions - Assembly

This Object teaches students the gestures, postures and actions they are to undertake during the celebration of the Eucharist. The explanation of each imparts to them the significance and reason for the movement.

This Object teaches students the gestures, postures and actions of the Priest during the celebration of the Eucharist. The explanation of each imparts to them the significance and reason for the movement.

Signs and Symbols

This Object deals with the signs and symbols used in the Church’s liturgy. Most of these elements can be found in our daily lives. Through the liturgy we are invited to reflect on our faith through these everyday norms. The multimedia element is a graphic depiction of the signs and symbols used. Each item is accompanied by a short explanatory text.

The Priest Prepares for Mass

This Object introduces students to the clothing worn by Priests during the Eucharist and the historical context of these liturgical garments, as well as an overview of the ritual of dressing. The multimedia element is a video of the Priest dressing for the Eucharist. Each item of clothing is named as he puts them on and a short explanation is provided.

Explore the Cathedral

This Object depicts the different furnishings and element to be found in a cathedral; each item is explained. It provides an opportunity for students to have a ‘life-like’ experience of a cathedral building if they have not entered one before or if they do not often have the opportunity to go to a cathedral.

Beauty in the Liturgy

This Object provides an overview of the environment, the art, and the liturgical ministries involved in creating the liturgy. It highlights the importance and significance of the different aspects the liturgy incorporates and why they should express beauty.

Preparing the Church for Mass

This Object looks at the elements required for the celebration of the Eucharist. The Object introduces the students to the names of the elements used, as well as providing them with an understanding of their significance.
